| You'll feel like a pasha sitting at one of the low window tables on a plush carpet surrounded by cushions. Fortunately for the less limber, normal height tables also are available. To start, order aushak, steamed or fried scallion dumplings that resemble triangular ravioli. Favorite entrées include mildly spiced tender lamb chunks with spinach, coriander and scallion sauce; chicken in yogurt with saffron and tarragon; and any of the charcoal-grilled kebabs. Vegetarians can enjoy salads and pastas including chewy homemade noodles with butter, garlic and yogurt. For dessert, order a pot of soothing shir-chai, Afghani tea flavored with cardamom and rose petals, and goosh-e fil, crackling crisp-fried pastry drizzled with honey and finely chopped pistachios. |
