| THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED The cooking at this northern Indian belle may be carefully composed, but its heart is decidedly passionate. Creamy yellow walls trimmed in white and flickering candlelight reflecting mischievously in artfully placed mirrors bring a dreamy glow to the proceedings, inviting you to unwind while the procession of well turned out dishes---a shahi korma, for example, whose chunks of lamb bathe in a wickedly creamy yogurt sauce scented with cinnamon, cumin, and cardamom---perfume the air deliciously. Green chiles bring judiciously powerful heat to the chicken cheera. Do try the house specialty, fish tikka, which is charcoal-grilled salmon and vegetables with a redolent masala on the side. Service can be tiresomely slow, but relax into the atmosphere and an evening's enjoyment will be yours. |
