Bar Tabac Restaurant Review: As part of the Forgeois empire that includes Le Singe Vert and Bistro Jules in Manhattan, Bar Tabac hits all the right French bistro notes in a gentrifying section of Brooklyn. The classic menu includes steak frites, Niçoise salad and coq au vin. Like many a French bistro in New York, the failing here is the service, which vacillates between inattentive and negligent. For diners without a set timeline for dinner, or who can commit to eating during the less congested off hours, Bar Tabac makes for a solid, unassuming choice on Smith Street’s restaurant row. |
