 Persian cuisine and its flavors are a bit different than those of Armenian and other Middle Eastern cuisines, but the staples are familiar. Rices and meats are subtly scented with cinnamon, sumac, saffron and other assorted spices. Various kebabs, including salmon and whitefish, are offered here, and the lamb is especially good. Polos are flavored rice dishes, such as the albalu polo with chicken and sweet-and-sour cherries. The dining room at Baran is a handsome, fashionable environment in which to enjoy a meal.
