 Barrio Restaurant Review: This Capitol Hill restaurant boasts concrete floors and heavy metal chairs, and a wall of 200 flickering candles. Owned by the masterminds behind the Purple Café & Wine Bars, Barrio offers creative Mexican cuisine with a Pacific Northwest twist. Dishes include a Dungeness crab chile relleno stuffed with butternut squash and chorizo; a trio of sliders --- brioche buns topped with grilled beef, tinga de pollo, and chipotle barbecue pork; and grilled prawn and rockfish ceviche. Inventive tacos are crafted with house-made tortillas filled with roasted beets with pumpkin seeds, or pork with caramelized pineapple. Desserts include smoked salt caramels and churros. Wines, beers, specialty cocktails and tequilas are available. |
