| When you dine at Basi Italia, remember that good things often come in small packages. Tucked away on an alley-like street in the heart of Victorian Village, the restaurant seats 26. It features simple Italian fare with innovative twists. Seafood cioppino; grilled shrimp with chive risotto and lobster broth; and crispy duck breast with sugar snap peas, fennel and fig vinaigrette all are memorable. Eggplant Parmesan is corn flour-dusted and served with pomodoro sauce, fresh mozzarella and basil pesto. The seared scallops have sautéed spinach and a spicy carrot sauce. Warm weather adds outdoor seating on a courtyard terrace, a nice place to enjoy a glass of wine from an extensive list. On chilly evenings, cuddle around the wood-burning stove. |
