| Bay 223, located inside the Sofitel San Francisco Bay, is a bright light on the mid-Peninsula's dining scene. The restaurant has a decidedly urban vibe, with sleek, modern furniture and pumping techno music. The American-style menu is highlighted by such appetizers as the fresh salmon tartare, and the wild watercress and Point Reyes blue cheese salad. For an entrée, think fish. The swordfish filet is served pan-seared and accompanied by fennel and fava beans. The fresh ahi tuna is grilled rare, doctored with caper-lemon meunière butter, and served with roasted fingerling potatoes, French beans and cherry tomatoes. The adjoining Baybar also serves dinner entrées. Furthermore, it mixes up some of the best specialty drinks in the area. Some of the better offerings include the Stamina (energy drink, Svedka Vanilla, orange juice and cola) and the Blue Tropics (Hypnotique, Malibu rum and pineapple). Enjoy your libations and bar food (like a lobster quesadilla or scallops wrapped in prosciutto) outside at one of the poolside patio tables and take in a marvelous view of the Redwood Shores channel. |
