| Bayleaf owner Mounir Fahmy has spared no expense in transforming this historic little Napa cottage into one of the most classically elegant settings in town. Building two wood-fired pizza ovens, bringing in a smoker for meats and planting a private garden for vegetables and herbs are just a few of the steps Fahmy has taken to enliven this hidden charmer. The menu includes classics like beef Wellington with wild mushroom duxelle, pâté de foie gras and quail egg, but they’re taken to a new level of excellence. Updated twists surprise, like the watermelon barbecue sauce accompanying smoky ribs, and saltimbocca of seared scallops. Locals can be found enjoying a wide variety of wood-fired pizzas at the custom-made, alabaster-inlaid, full-service bar. An infusion of bay leaf enlivens the standard crème brûlée, making it not only the signature dessert, but an exotic exclamation point at the end of a meal. |
