 Beach House Restaurant Restaurant Review: This well situated oceanfront restaurant has consistently maintained its gastronomic reputation through a number of chefs. This is also one of the island's few places to eat right on the water, adjoining Prince Kuhio Park with its striking sunsets and great surfer-watching. Beach House manages to be both elegant and casual, with outdoor tables fronting a coastal promenade and a sophisticated, eclectic menu. The emphasis is on quality local ingredients. The blackened ahi Caesar with feta and Parmesan is so fresh and well-seasoned it reminds us of why this now standard salad was invented. Other menu stars are a crab cake with a zippy red bell pepper aïoli; grilled boneless pork chops with an apple brandy sauce; a braised lamb shank with a Dijon mint rub and Parmesan crust; crispy roasted duck breast served with garlic mashed potatoes; and a miso-marinated catch of the day accompanied by shiitake mushrooms. |
