| The sibling restaurant to nearby Washington Square Tavern is a spacious, woody and dimly-lit bar and grill with a similar feel of cozy neighborliness. The menus at the two taverns are somewhat alike, though this one ably walks the line between comfort food and contemporary creations. You won’t find just burgers and fries, but rather platters of crispy falafel on warm pita, barbecue pork tacos and a short rib melt with horseradish aïoli. Seared tuna is sliced and spiced while oysters on the half shell arrive with wasabi ponzu. We like the roasted chicken served “Thanksgiving style” with sweet mash, sprouts and cranberry compote. A solid beer menu features local and artisanal brews; classic cocktails and several wines by the glass are available, too. Be sure to arrive early as during peak hours the wait can be a bit long. |
