Crowded and noisy at main meal hours, Becky’s is the quintessential American eatery, with loads of all the good Middle America eats that are true comfort foods. Take the pulled pork barbecue sandwich with a side of fries and coleslaw: admittedly, the pork shreds are slightly dry and flavorless, crying out for a shot of the accompanying barbecue sauce. But the fries are hot and the coleslaw creamy. Omelets and hash browns endear themselves to loyalists. Really hungry? You can order up all the works with such entrée platters as smoked turkey breast with gravy and two vegetables, or a roast beef dinner, also with vegetable sides. Don’t forget to ask about daily specials, which may turn up meatloaf or pork chops, depending on the day. Desserts consist only of pies and ice cream, so don’t expect a sweet-tooth splurge, and while there’s not a full bar, you can indulge in a mimosa or Bloody Mary.
