You can almost envision the Rat Pack huddled in one of the retro black leather booths of this downtown hot-spot paved in handsome marble and Lucite chandeliers. It attracts an equally smart-looking set of Austinites for after-work drinks and dinner. In Frank Sinatra fashion, well prepared cocktails are mandatory. They’re fine to sip while you nosh the fried calamari or the tender grilled beef skewers with a spicy Indian-style sauce. For lunch, try the two-fisted Baja burger with avocado, salsa, green peppers and Monterey Jack, or the lighter arugula, roasted pear and goat cheese salad. For dinner, we suggest the smoky flavored cedar plank salmon and Chef Ben's spit-roasted chicken, a nice bird if sometimes a tad over-salted. Retire to the cool rooftop patio flanked with palm trees for good people-watching and live music.
