THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Beluga Restaurant Review: Arrive early to get a seat in the serene back dining room, where a window frames a single tree and Zen garden. Alternately, come late and prepare to get your groove on in a trendy lounge where the DJ pumps up the volume. Behind all the gloss of this swank sushi joint in a former fondue place, there's a reason it has been around a decade: it does sushi better than most around town. Eating here is a textural delight, and one that can be expensive. Therefore, deal-seekers come for sushi specials on Wednesdays and a late-night weekend menu featuring half-price sushi. The pan-seared scallops with orange emulsion are a must among first course offerings. For mains, there are plenty of steak, duck, lamb and pasta dishes from which to choose. Or try the bento box, featuring teriyaki sea bass, three pieces of sashimi, shrimp tempura and a California roll. For a refreshing dessert, we suggest the sweet, nutty black sesame seed ice cream.
