Benjarong Thai Restaurant Restaurant Review: Sunlight bathes the intimate dining room making it very appealing, and the authentic Thai decorative pieces and hanging silk add to the overall Asian effect. Many of Benjarong's dishes are inspired; we suggest the roast duck curry, an amalgam of all the fiery and layered flavors that make Thai cooking so entrancing, and the cook is not stingy with his duck portions. Spicy red curry with duck (and with your choice of chicken, pork or assorted seafood varieties) is another winner. Consider as well the panang chicken curry, and to start, the tod mun with plenty of chili bite. Entrées also include crispy soft-shell crab and fried whole fish. On the downside, the salad khaek was more about iceberg lettuce than any of the other traditional garnishes of eggs and cooked vegetables, and the squid cooked with lemon grass and chilies was disappointingly bland. But for a winning Thai meal, Benjarong upstages many of its competitors.
