Bi-Rite Creamery & Bakeshop Restaurant is one of our 2012
| Top 10 SF Ice Cream Restaurants
|
| Sister to the Dolores Park neighborhood's Bi-Rite Market, this small creamery and bakeshop features a commitment to top-tier local, organic ingredients and green practices. Blending Straus Family Creamery products (milk, cream, eggs) with purveyors such as Ritual Coffee Roasters from down the street and honey from a neighboring beekeeper, Bi-Rite's flavors taste at once familiar and wholly innovative. Winners include the celebrated salted caramel ice cream, caramelized-banana split, chai spiced milk chocolate ice cream and "Sam's sundae"---chocolate ice cream topped with bergamot olive oil and Maldon sea salt. There's also a soft-serve window that often sports a much smaller line. Seasonal baked goods such as buttermilk upside-down cake and fruit pies are the perfect complement to a scoop or two. |
