| Big Dean's is open 365 days a year, rain or shine, and you’ll spot it wedged behind the Santa Monica Pier. This casual eatery and beer bar is a favorite with volleyball players, beach bums, and the more scholarly types from nearby Chess Park. Home of the famed First Beer of the Day, they serve a good variety of brews, many on tap, and, of course, you can catch up on the latest sports scores. They're often open until 1:30 a.m. when it's hopping, but have been known to close at 10:30 p.m. when it's not. The shady patio in the back welcomes kids and there's plenty on the menu they'll enjoy, from burgers and tacos to the chili fries. |
