| Game on! That's what Denverites said when big name New York restaurateurs Zach and Jeffrey Chodorow---he of China Grill fame---unveiled their upscale mega-size media lounge and restaurant in the heart of downtown. The sprawling space, mounted with super-size HDTV televisions tuned to---what else?---big games and bedecked with Wii stations, an open kitchen, dark woods, a towering fireplace and a dining room entryway bordered by antlers, turns out an eclectic board of eats. We like the misshaped pepperoni pizza pelted with coins of pork procured from Il Mondo Vecchio, Denver's best salumi palace, and we can't get enough of the poutine fries smothered with cheese curds and a rich white gravy. The burgers---lamb, beef or bison---mounded with all the required accouterments, are tasty, as is the hanger steak au poivre, mussels bathing in a piquant Thai red curry and elk loin smeared with a black butter. Servers are efficient and friendly, as are the bartenders who pour a stiff cocktail. |
