Housed in the space that was once the Hog Pit, this Meatpacking District burger joint and bar attracts everyone from the neighborhood scenesters to late night drinkers to burger aficionados. We’ll set the record straight right now: Bill’s doesn’t serve the best burgers in the city. The patties are too thin and often too overcooked to compete. That said, the classic (served on a soft sesame seed bun) is still worth a bite. The “Fat Cat,” two patties topped with caramelized onions and in between an English muffin, is a more filling and satisfying option. Even better is the crispy pinky-finger-thin hot dog which comes slathered in relish. The menu also has passable chili, a grouper sandwich, and several specialty milk shakes. There are four micro brews on tap.
