| Chris Hinton, a former NFL star, raised eyebrows when he opened his wine store in 1998. "What would a football player know about wine?" the snobs wondered. Well, they soon found out. Plenty. Today, Hinton is universally acknowledged as one of the city's premiere wine authorities. Adjacent to his original store is his wine bar, Bin 75. Purchase one of the cards that activate the wine selections and load it up with $25, $50 or $75. Then insert it into a slot in the Enomatic and choose from 24 wines by taste size, a small pour or a glass. Neighborhood couples make this a weekending stop. It's a date scene. And friends gather to compare thoughts about the different wines offered, all of which are adventurous and well chosen. No cooking is done here, so foods are cured meat plates and cheese plates, but the servings are plenty for two, if not more, to share. Keep an eye out for special tastings and wine events. Be aware that the place may close for private parties, even on those days when it's typically open to the public. |
