Bistango Restaurant Review: The Atrium Building provides a picturesque setting for this modern bistro’s contemporary food, as well as the nightly jazz and the revolving art displays. The completely redesigned space has added sleek touches like a centrally located 360 degree bar and an earth-toned color scheme that accentuates its already strong metropolitan vibe, making it an ideal oasis in the midst of the Irvine business scene. Executive chef Christopher Meehan's menu of New American cuisine smartly pushes convention through a seasonally changing menu featuring in-house butchered cuts of meat and game such as venison. While the menu shifts with the calendar, it always includes crisp gourmet pizzas, seared ahi, steaks, veal chops and several interesting pastas. Start with the sashimi of yellowfin tuna or the comforting garlic soup. When it comes to the main course, order any of the succulent steaks, a risotto or a fish dish such as the tamarind-chile glazed wild king salmon. The wine list includes more than 500 labels, and there’s an extensive by-the-glass selection. The compact lunch menu is highlighted by the two-course prix-fixe menu --- ideal for busy business types. Nightly entertainment and an intriguing small-plates menu available in the bar keep the good times going all night.
