| Bistro Central Parc’s sleek, modern dining room keeps a casual tone thanks to a handful of country accents such as old wine barrels tucked into corners. Counter seating spans a wide open kitchen for folks wanting a view onto the action---made even better by a glass of wine. A hunk of warmed Brie placed on a crispy cake of shredded potatoes is a good way to kick off the meal. Or go for the plump, tender mussels with traditional white wine and shallot broth or a more decadent version featuring Madras curry and crème fraîche. Duck confit is juicy underneath its crispy fried skin; tender filet mignon is paired with a Roquefort cheese sauce. Surprising authenticity abounds, including a very good nougat glace, one of the bistro's signature desserts. Wines are predominantly French and moderately priced, with most bottles falling in the $20 to $30 range. |
