There’s a loft-like feel and killer Fox River views at this Far West suburban bistro from industry veteran George Guggeis, who enlisted Doug D’Avico (Trattoria No. 10) to cook food that’s not just familiar but really solid. We like the deviled eggs, even if they are all-but-ubiquitous on menus these days; here, they’re stuffed with Maine lobster salad, which lends a decadent touch. As for the beet salad, it gets a tasty makeover with nopales, pickled jalapeños and crumbles of feta. And the burrata with roasted tomatoes, olive oil and a sprinkle of sea salt? It’s simple and unfussy. Among entrées, the rich Wagyu, topped with silky avocado butter, shouldn’t be skipped. At meal’s end, look to options like pineapple upside-down cake or bread pudding with poached berry compote. In summer, when entertainment ups the ante, sit on the patio overlooking the water.
