Black-eyed Sally's BBQ & Blues Restaurant Review

: James Varano's jumping joint, Black-eyed Sally's, is the quintessential city destination for those looking for down-south food and music: in other words, an escape from Hartford. The Asylum Street landmark boasts a roadhouse menu that includes its trademark barbecued ribs, as well as jambalaya, oyster po’ boys, pulled pork, blackened catfish and smoky gumbo loaded with chicken, shrimp and andouille sausage. Round out a meal with classic bourbon pecan pie. The cocktail taking center stage is the rum-laced “Hurricane Sally.” More than 30 draught and bottle beers and a limited number of wine selections are also offered. On the weekends and even most weeknights, get ready for some rockin' live music, everything from nationally touring blues bands to jam sessions featuring local talent and surprise guests. Laid-back and accommodating whether you are in a suit and tie or jeans and a T-shirt, this is the place to tingle your taste buds and tap your toes.
