Blue Ginger Restaurant Review: Located in the posh ’burbs of Wellesley, Blue Ginger has an East meets West fusion approach that is the culmination of Ming Tsai’s youth spent in the kitchens of Europe and Japan. Head into the chic lounge for a black fig vodka martini paired with a bite from the Asian tapas menu. The crispy Asian duck confit ravioli with Chinese black vinegar brown butter sauce is a tasty start. Signatures on the main dining menu include shiitake leek spring rolls accompanied by a fiery three chili dipping sauce, and Peking quail with buttery scallion crêpes served with a hoisin chipotle sauce. Tsai’s talents shine in dishes like garlic black pepper lobster with lemon grass fried rice and pea tendril salad. While most of the menu's flourishes are smart rather than flashy or pretentious, some flavor combinations are just puzzling, making the hefty price tags questionable. |
