| A mainstay in Portsmouth for showcasing local musicians and poets, Blue Mermaid also has an almost cult following for its selection of craft beers and food you just don't get much of in New England---Caribbean dishes using ingredients from local waters and lands. Try the Bermuda beef patties with a hot coconut and mango sauce or ginger spring rolls with a hint of orange to start. For entrées, go for something from the wood grill, perhaps the mahi mahi with a yellow pepper mole sauce and a side of plantain fritters, or the seafood tangine with salmon, cod and peppers. Dessert keeps an island theme with banana brûlée or chocolate cake with coconut sauce. |
