| A striking two-story stucco canyon lined with black river rocks leads you to the massive wood doors that open to a winding staircase that takes you up to modern Southwestern digs on the second floor of the swanky Blue Mesa. As soon as you sit down, you'll enjoy the freshly-made sweet-potato chips served with a fire-roasted salsa. Stars of the show are guacamole made to order at the table and the churrascaritas, charbroiled strips of chicken, beef or shrimp marinated in ginger, chipotle and lime juice served with a thick, chewy grilled Mesa panna bread. Other standouts include the signature black bean Adobe pie---think a tamale without the corn husk and you'll be close---and the first-rate Chimayo corn (whole roasted ears of corn are served in their husks with a dab of crumbly cheese sauce). A selection of spa items has been added for those keeping close tabs on their diet. Blue Mesa offers an extensive range of sipping tequilas and has a knack for creating topnotch cocktails with them. Its free quesadilla bar happy hour is well known around the city as is its all-you-can-eat weekend brunch. |
