THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Blue Piano Restaurant Review: The narrow storefront of this tiny wine/music lounge is easily overlooked, but shouldn't be. It’s a fun, low-key place to listen to local jazz and blues musicians over tasty, soulful bar bites. Admittedly, since the place's original chef/sommelier team departed, the spark of unpredictable originality is gone from the food menu. Focus has shifted from whimsical gourmet snacks to more down-to-earth dishes --- burgers, crab cakes, etc. Solidly retro fare includes lamb chops with mint jelly. But there are touches of invention mixed into certain accessible items, such as a soul food dinner (fried chicken, collards and black-eyed peas) served in a wrap, and dishes are generally tasty. To accompany, there’s a respectable selection of craft beers and a wine list highlighting boutique producers that utilize sustainable, organic and biodynamic practices. |
