Boardwalk Bistro Restaurant Review

: Boardwalk Bistro’s lunch menu, including gyros, muffulettas and Syrian pitas with lamb, only begins to hint at the eclecticism of the dinner offerings. With the Mediterranean basin as a base, appetizers, tapas and small plates encompass such diversity as a medjool date salad with prosciutto and Shiner Bock-battered shrimp. The appearance of a chef’s tasting menu also tips one off to dinner’s aspirations. The four- or five-course meal may even be paired with a flight of wines selected from owner and certified sommelier Barbara Hunt’s wine list; it’s as all-encompassing as the menu with particular depth in Spain. Individual entrées available in the gently worn dining room ringed by decks, include eggplant Parmesan “festooned with ratatouille-filled puff pastry” and grilled veal T-bone with brandied chanterelles. Desserts such as cheesecake are less exotic than main plates, but an eclectic live music lineup reinforces the globetrotting gusto of the place.
