Bomboa is unlike any other restaurant in Boston. The ambitious group of young owners got the idea for the place from the oh-so-fashionable Rio to Paris plane ride. How does that work in a restaurant? With a combination of Parisian flair, New York attitude and South Beach sass---oh, and lots of Latin spice. From the fish tanks to the zebra-striped banquettes to the lithe servers, it's a total package that initially generated a strong buzz, but has died down to the dull roar of its South End regulars. Their loyalty is due in part to chef Felino Samson, who cooks with confidence. His food is earthy, deeply flavorful, and slightly baroque at its best. Oxtail-peanut pot stickers quote empanadas right down to the side of black beans; roast chicken in adobo soothes with yucca purée and cashews. Even better are the cocktails---the stuff dreamy bar scenes are made of.
