THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Bondi Restaurant Review:

Bondi is San Diego’s first truly authentic Australian restaurant. No, we don’t mean the walls are decorated with boomerangs and kangaroo posters. Instead, the Gaslamp Quarter eatery, brainchild of three Aussie mates, is a sleek, sophisticated and art-filled space that is at once industrial yet organic. Case in point, the woven cabanas: these pod-like structures inspired by Aboriginal fish traps are made of bamboo, yet function as modular units to be elevated or lowered to modify the space as needed. Most of the interior pieces were shipped from Down Under, as are many of the ingredients, including the Tasmanian ocean trout, munthari berry and wattle seed. We recommend the appetizer of beef party pies. An apt description, for these flaky pastries are filled with tender beef and gravy, and are well suited for pairing with a tall glass of Coopers Pale Ale from Oz. Also of note are the barbecued barramundi with corn fritters and the Wagyu beef with asparagus, roasted red yams and savory onion jam. The all-Australian cheese plate makes a fine ending, or save room for the serious chocolate cake. Live bands and DJs up the energy level making it a festive place, Aussie-style.
