| Among the many eateries on the Bonnie Brae strip, the Bonnie Brea Tavern is the 60-plus-year-old granddaddy of them all. The family-friendly menu features American cuisine, including juicy burgers, hearty meatloaf and pork chops with applesauce and Mexican staples, many of them smothered with a green chile jolted with pronounced heat. Still, it’s the pizzas that keep us waiting in line on any given night. Pies feature a thin and crunchy crust topped with dozens of meat and veggie options. Craving Italian? We suggest the spaghetti and ravioli combo plate. Kids and grownups alike eat up the BBT’s retro aesthetics; adults will appreciate the vintage back bar and selection of spirits and draft beers. |
