Boston Juicy Jerk Restaurant Review

: The jerk here is actually very good, especially the jerk pork plate---big chunks of assertively spice-coated meat oozing unctuous juices, just like the joint's name says (but rare to find with today's leaner pigs), and served with generous portions of classic Jamaican rice-and-peas (i.e. red beans) and salad. So why doesn’t anybody talk about the jerked proteins? Because everybody's talking about Paul Johnson's jerk ice cream. Though most ice creams are an antidote to fiery dishes, Johnson's vanilla-based "Jerk Nuts" blend (flavored with a spice blend that's secret but discernibly includes nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, and scotch bonnet peppers) will leave your tongue tingling---but no more than that. After 20 years of research, Johnson tamed the 100,000-350,000 Scoville unit killer pepper to a sweet, mild mouth burn that's definitely a unique taste of the tropics.
