Bottega Cafe Restaurant Review: Bottega Café offers a casual dining option next to the more formal Bottega Restaurant. Turn right through the gate and in good weather, you’ll see one of Birmingham’s favorite outdoor spaces in which to enjoy fine fare. In any weather, diners will take pleasure in the warm terra-cotta-colored room and watching pizzas emerge from the wood-fired oven. Or try the piadine---thin pizzas topped with a choice of salads and meats then folded into a sandwich. Menus change daily, but you'll always find the roast pork loin with polenta, tomato chutney aïoli and Venetian spinach; and the Café version of macaroni and cheese (baked penne with three cheeses). There are daily specials and crab cakes on Monday are not to be missed. We also suggest the torn pasta with local Fudge Farms pork sugo with tomato and pancetta. But there’s also linguine with little clams and shrimp or chicken scaloppini topped with capers. For dessert, the pecan and coconut cake is popular. Tiramisu and fruit cobblers tempt as well.
