Brad’s Swingside Cafe Restaurant Review: Craving authentic Italian food in a fun setting? This small, friendly restaurant offers classic pastas, such as aglio e olio, christened with capers, sun-dried tomatoes, anchovies, Marsala and ground hazelnuts. Although there’s nothing stylish about the décor overflowing with baseball memorabilia, and the presentation lacks finesse, the food is tasty and portions are generous. Specials may include truffle-kissed venison stew spooned over potato gnocchi, or a seafood gumbo brimming with crab, halibut and rock shrimp. Appetizers are limited to antipasti, including smoky caponata and kalamata olive tapenade, or a combination plate consisting of these spreads plus goat cheese and marinated vegetables. Very little is predictable at Brad’s Swingside Café, which is what makes it so enjoyable, especially when live music --- generally jazz or blues --- fills the room. |
