Bread & Barley Restaurant Review

: As the gastropub concept is making its way inland, some good cooking is emerging in the ’burbs, and Bread & Barley is a great example. Small plates like papas bravas, portobello fries with truffle aïoli for dipping, and chicken wings are offered, as well as an intriguing array of burgers that includes bison with spicy mayo or beef with bacon, Gorgonzola-fried onions and barbecue sauce. Larger plates include New York steak, a nifty smoked Gouda mac ‘n’ cheese, and jerk chicken, washed down with a choice of more than 20 craft beers on tap. There’s also a short but worthy wine list, and desserts include a big hunk of sticky toffee pudding. The setting is a hip combination of exposed brick, wood and stainless steel.
