| When it opened in the ’80s, Bristol was hot stuff. It's remained a solid favorite, with business people arriving for dinner at 9:30 p.m. on a Monday night. Residents from the comfortable upper-middle-class suburbs that surround the restaurant supplement the business traffic. Because it features market-fresh fish, Bristol’s menu changes daily and seasonally, although a few standards stay constant (cioppino, seared tuna salad, shrimp ravioli). Raw oysters and crab cakes are appetizers of choice, the latter almost solid lump crab meat, elegant in their simplicity and with fine sauces. Bristol breaks from its somewhat bland reputation with its specialty cocktails for happy hour and a weekend three-course menu. |
