 Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Restaurant & Market Restaurant Review: The food is just passable at this Forrest Gump-inspired joint (a Paramount Pictures and Rusty Pelican Restaurant chain venture). Reality check: the theme is dated, the film is passé and the restaurant is just one of the reasons Monterey’s Cannery Row has turned into something other than the box of chocolates it once was. If circumstances offer no choice but to dine here with the rest of the tourist crowd, try the peel-and-eat shrimp or the shrimp and salsa cocktail mixed with cilantro, chilies and avocado. Bubba does more than shrimp: Dixie-style baby-back ribs arrive slathered in sauce and "boat trash" (not a particularly appetizing title) catches mahi mahi, lobster and other fish together with a pile of fries. |
