Buca di Beppo Restaurant Review: At Buca di Beppo, you’ll feel like Mama’s doing the cooking, and the party is at your house. The portions are huge---this is food for sharing, and even the smaller menu options for couples feed more than two. Frank Sinatra plays over the sound system, black-and-white photos of JFK adorn the walls and the tables are all covered with red-and-white checked tablecloths. We recommend the chicken Marsala with its wine-sweetened mushrooms, tender chicken and garlic mashed potatoes. Or sample the pastas---we’re partial to the chicken cannelloni and the baked manicotti. The red sauce is a little sweet for our liking, and the meatball (as big as a softball) always sounds better on the menu than it tastes. Tiramisu gets decent marks for its liberal dose of espresso and dark rum; like everything else, it’s served in a portion large enough to impress even a diehard dessert fan. But everybody knows that dining at Buca is really about the experience, not the cuisine.
