Buca di Beppo Restaurant Review

: Frank Sinatra sings in the background. An over-the-top décor covers the walls with reproduction ’50s photos of glamorous Italians --- Frank, Gina, Sophia, Marcello. A plaster bust of Benedict XVI presides over the private Pope’s Room. It’s a loud, frenetic place, a chain concept offering “immigrant Southern Italian cooking, served family style,” with some items available in single portions. Large portions serve four to six; small portions generously supply two to three. The food is utterly unremarkable --- eggplant Parmigiana, ravioli with meat sauce, prosciutto-stuffed chicken. But go with a group to share a festive experience, and order homemade tiramisu for dessert. The restaurant offers pre-ordered coconut-iced "Celebration Cakes" ($29.95). The routine wine list sports Buca's own label Chianti.
