 Treasure Island's makeover of its buffet restaurant has transformed it into a very modern experience, with some throwbacks to bygone days. Gleaming stainless steel abounds in six live-action stations designed to resemble a street of shops. Salads are attractively displayed on a chilled marble table, with imaginative combinations made to order. We like the watercress with smoked turkey, blue cheese, grapes, walnuts and Champagne dressing. The Pasta Station's tagliatelle with wild mushrooms, roasted chicken and thyme is a winner, as are the seafood medley and the Mediterranean pizzas. We also suggest the Asian sushi and lo mein, and the savory brisket and pork turned out in the barbecue's wood-burning oven. For dinner, an enthusiastic server rolls a chili cart with two chili choices that change weekly. Many of the desserts are prepared in an old-fashioned pie oven and displayed on an iron baker's rack. Pink cotton candy and six flavors of crème brûlée are featured. Complementing the dinner fare is a coffee machine where diners may serve themselves cappuccino, caffè latte, espresso and much more.
