Butterfly Cafe Restaurant Review: From the plantation-style dining room to the palm-dotted white beach outside, Butterfly Café situates you right at the gateway to the Caribbean. For flavors that reflect the environment, try crab cakes with jícama slaw and chipotle aïoli, a “samba” salad with avocado-mango balsamic vinaigrette, or “Ann’s favorite recipe” conch chowder. Larger plates vary from panko-crusted grouper with a tropical coulis, to Caribbean jerk chicken with black beans and saffron rice, and a nutty coconut shrimp alongside apricot dipping sauce. For those seeking a meat fix, beach or no beach, the filet, cowboy steak, or good old all-American hamburger will please. For dessert, the “tdf” (to die for) sticky toffee pudding never fails. Expansive windows, high ceilings and an uninterrupted view stretching to the Gulf make the restaurant feel like its own private retreat without having to be a registered guest of Tranquility Bay Beach House Resort.
