Marcus Samuelsson's splashy Chicago restaurant features a sea-inspired, wood-outfitted dining room adorned with sepia-toned, ocean-themed photography, where executive chef Nicole Pederson (ex-Lula Café) creates a menu of seafood and chops that also spotlights seasonal and artisanal ingredients. The raw bar entices with several varieties of oysters, while appetizers include crispy sweetbreads and sunchoke soup with crispy artichoke, speck and smoked almonds. Entrées range from yellowtail and cockles with avocado and pickled red onions to house-pickled herring with cracked wheat bread and greens. For dessert, check out the “candy bar,” a display of bite-size confections, cookies and chocolates in glass jars. The visible wine cellar favors crisp, seafood-appropriate whites and light reds. Be sure to visit the rooftop lounge, C-View, before or after meals.
