 A.C. Petersen Farms Restaurant Review: A.C. Petersen Farms makes all its sorbet and frozen yogurt as well as ice cream right next door at Nutmeg Farms Creamery. Upwards of 30 varieties are routinely available on a rotating basis; a number of tempting stir-ins only add to the array, as do sundaes and four-scoop milkshakes, that together make all that rich, creamy stuff the star of the show. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are also served, with food that ranges from fair to just-like-mom makes. Breakfast items include everything from ham and eggs to waffles and pancakes. Lunch and dinner offers choices like standard burgers, sandwiches and salads, as well as entrées such as liver and onions, steak, fried shrimp and build-your-own sliders. In-season specialties include New England staples like lobster rolls, and there is outdoor dining when weather allows. Be prepared to wait a bit when the place is bustling, usually on weekends. The décor, evoking a 1950s hash house, gives the place some unassuming charm, while the affordable prices certainly increase the allure for families. And as an added bonus, an upstairs room is available, the perfect place for kids' ice cream-themed birthday parties and other celebrations. |
