Cafe 2825 Restaurant Review

: Cafe 2825’s tiny kitchen turns out big flavors in carefully prepared dishes, served amid an inviting, neighborhood Italian ambience. Not often seen on restaurant menus, authentic home-cooking dishes make appearances here. Try the trippa Napolitana, beef tripe, cooked to tenderness and plated with carrots, fennel, peas, onions and marinara, or carciofi ripieni, a whole artichoke filled with seasoned breadcrumbs and onions and topped with diced hardboiled egg. Share a plate of the pappardelle filete di pomodoro --- the homemade noodles are extra-wide and tossed in fresh tomato basil sauce with smoked pancetta. For an entrée, go for pollo e gamberi fagiola, a grilled chicken breast with sautéed shrimp and white beans in scampi sauce presented over rabe and escarole. If you have a high tolerance for heat, order the Italian long hots, which are fiery green beans. Management is justifiably proud of its wine list. For a sweet ending, don't pass up the white pistachio gelato.

Cafe 2825 Left Us Disappointed
by Reality101 on Fri Jul 18, 2008 8:21 pm
After reading several rave reviews about Cafe 2825 in Atlantic City, my husband and I went with high expectations. After walking in and standing for almost two minutes, the owner says, "May I help you?" Now I don't know about you, but I expect to hear that type of question at a place like Ace Hardware. What I expect at a restaurant is a warm greeting and something like, "How many are in your party?" Anyhow, I give Joe (I think that's what I heard others call him) our name and reservation time. We were then seated. I ordered the house salad, $10, and stuffed calamari at either $32 or $34 dollars. My husband ordered a caesar salad, $10, and a chicken dish. We had to request bread as no one brought us any. When our entrees arrived, they were tasty. Later, however, I had to wait some time before anyone asked me if I'd like another drink as my glass was empty for too long. So what can I say? Yes, the food was good, but the prices and overall service need improvement. We will not be going back.
