Competing with the international reputation of its upstairs sibling, The Dining Room, The Café offers its own accomplishments. Plush seating and well-spaced tables make this an ideal spot for power breakfasts before a board meeting or shopping at the malls across the street. Although we're not convinced that the grits are as good as they could be, the egg dishes are first-rate. Don't miss the corned beef hash with poached eggs or splurge on the Benedict. Lunch is famous for the crab cakes, Niçoise salad with grilled tuna and fried chicken salad. Substantial buffets are offered at breakfast and lunch, not to mention the elaborate and exotic Sunday brunch. Lunching late? There's an all-day menu with sandwiches and main-course salads. Before dinner, step into the nearby bar for a glass or two of wine, or maybe sample a flight and some nibbles, then repair to The Café for a terrine of foie gras or ravioli, followed by a rack of lamb with reduction sauce or any of the fish dishes. If you still have room for dessert, go for the crème brûlée. This is a fine place to introduce children to their best dining experiences as great attention is lavished upon them.
