| This innovative café has a well-deserved devoted following, both by locals and food enthusiasts looking for good contemporary fare with a strong French foundation at prices that are hard to believe. Starters include lobster-and-salmon ravioli, tuna tartare and wonderful sweetbreads in a balsamic sauce that also turn up as a main course. Among other entrée choices are sesame-crusted salmon over potato pancakes in red wine sauce, steak au poivre and roasted chicken with pommes frites. If you really want to save money, we suggest you order an entrée and add soup or salad for only $1 more. You can also bring your own bottle of wine, since the corkage fee is a mere $2. Housed in a cottage reputed to be the former home of actor/comedian Bud Abbott, this is a cozy, casually elegant dining venue. Be sure to call well in advance for weekend reservations. |
