Le Cafe des Beaux Arts Restaurant Review: The name means "café of fine arts," and the décor and long and inclusive menu reflect the moniker. Located along tony El Paseo, where the sidewalks could double as a Paris runway during certain times of the year, this charming corner spot celebrates all things French. The fare includes an average --- and sometimes better than average --- array of traditional dishes, including rabbit Dijonnaise and the house specialty bouillabaisse. Standout items are a very acceptable lamb Provençale and duck with fig sauce. The elegant lounge area, with its mix of cozy booths and a horseshoe-shaped bar, is the perfect place to nosh on small plates as you summon up the spirit of Edith Piaf. Champagne would seem the obvious drink of choice in a French bistro, but opt for a Paris martini made with vodka, Chambord and raspberry. If you want to see and be seen, request a table on the wraparound patio, where a parade of passersby are in full view.
