Cafe Eclectic Restaurant Review: Just a few blocks away from the campus of prestigious Rhodes College, Café Eclectic is as much a gathering spot for latte-sipping students as it is a popular lunch destination for Midtowners of all stripes. The lunch and dinner menus are heavy on sandwiches and salads and proudly proclaim the restaurant’s use of local and regional meats and produce. Angus beef from Neola Farms is the base for JJ’s Patty Melt, served on ciabatta with provolone and spicy mayo. The Strawberry Fields salad features fresh berries atop a bed of mixed greens with roasted pecans and crumbled goat cheese. Eclectic offers plenty of vegetarian options, but vegan diners should be warned that the black bean patty is not vegan. They do, however, sell a vegan tofu wrap and a veggie dog with caramelized onions. Café Eclectic is also famous for its freshly baked desserts, such as donuts and strawberry cupcakes. Bring canine friends as dogs may sit with their human companions on the breezy patio. Sunday brunch runs until 3 p.m., serving dishes that range from scrambled eggs and tofu scramble wraps to Scottish porridge and granola.
