| Like other locations of the Café Express chain, this branch in River Oaks offers quick counter service and fresh, homemade food at affordable prices in a cool, polished setting. Good choices include the hamburger with crisp fries, and the fettuccine with a robust tomato-sausage sauce. Among the salads, we recommend the tender grilled chicken over baby mesclun dressed with a creamy vinaigrette. Breakfast items include croissant sandwiches with eggs and bacon and a south-of-the-border platter of scrambled eggs, creamy queso with cilantro and tortilla strips, and a side of black beans topped with spicy habanero sauce served with house salsa and flour tortillas.
