The Cafe Restaurant Review: Billing itself as a “mostly vegetarian restaurant,” The Café is your beacon for veggie burgers, stir-fries, tofu and the occasional seafood entrée. Flavors range from Middle Eastern (falafel sandwich with hummus and tahini) to Asian (kung pao tofu) to Italian (fig and Gorgonzola pizza), and the portions are guaranteed to fill you up. Glance over the daily specials menu and consider the veggie burger of the day served with a side of sweet potato fries with a homemade curry lime sauce. Spring rolls are a fine starter to pair with a sweet Szechuan stir-fry with flat noodles, mixed vegetables and tofu (shrimp and mahi are also available for the “piscivores” in the crowd). For a lighter take, the grilled tofu salad is refreshing with avocado, edamame, cherry tomatoes, cashews and a miso-ginger dressing, or try the Classic Sprouthead Sandwich made with avocado, cucumber, Swiss, hummus, sprouts, lettuce and tomato. There are plenty of vegan selections, too. The dining room is bursting with local art and it’s inviting for a casual lunch or dinner.
